Come on a walk with Cwti Green City of London guide, round places in the City of London, where you can visit some historical sites, both religious and secular, and sing appropriate songs. Some of the songs will go back hundreds of years, some will be more modern, but they all have one thing in common - they're easy and good to sing, and they tell us about events of long ago.

Ever wanted to sing "here comes a chopper to chop off your head" at one of the churches mentioned in "Oranges and Lemons"? or "Ring-a-ring o' Roses" at the site of a plague pit? Or an African freedom song by a Wren church? Or part of a Wesley hymn near the spot where he was converted? And what about "London Bridge is Falling Down" near…well, you get the idea. We'll be visiting sites of historical interest and singing songs old and new, in parts, in harmony, and in good voice of course! Song sheets will naturally be provided as this is definitely one to join in with!

Starting point: Museum of London

Duration of walk: 90 minutes

Cwti
Cwti Green is a City of London guide, and leads walks for the Museum of London and the City of London Education Department.

She is eminently qualified to do this, being the proud possessor of a carrying voice, an Actor's Equity card and a somewhat quirky personality. As well as her knowledge of history and of many fascinating tales of the City of London, she spent the early years of the 1990s doing stand-up comedy in Scotland, because of her interest in the funny side of human nature.

So any walk with her will be a little off-beat, reasonably amusing and on the whole a very entertaining way to spend the odd hour or so!
